Oktava MD-80M Dynamic Microphones

Vintage gear geeks, this is the stuff You will like! I have had a good deal on a stock of vintage Russian dynamic microphones Oktava MD-80M recently. I am keeping few sets for myself, but the rest is up for sale. I don't have a continuous supply, so keep in mind that quantity is very limited.

A bit about this model. These mics are not that well-known as Oktava ribbons, but they certainly worth attention. These are funky little fellows that come in a hard case with windshield, XLR plug and original printed specification. Sound is somewhat specific from modern point of view, You will hardly find anything similar within the variety of actual microphone models. Check out the response graph below and You will understand what I am talking about.

I have tested the microphones in my studio, they sound more harsh (less lowest end response), then most modern dynamic mics, but have quite impressive sound for the price in upper mid range. They have also showed good SPL handling capavilities, so they might serve good as tom and snare microphones. Also pretty good for voice in the case if You want to process it as special effect later - like "telephone" voice or something similar. Might be good for guitar cabinets, but only as accompanying microphone for something soft (ribbons?) to add some bite when needed. Really can't name any well-known reference, not sure if there is any! They do sound unususal from modern point of view, but it is often an advantage to have something different in te arsenal.

Unit condition and background

The units are in perfect visual and technical condition. 100% genuine. Cases do have some minor wear due to the storage time. They are all unused, pure NOS. Manufacturing years range from 1988 to 1991.
